Counseling Services

CIR provides you with counseling support in addition to therapy, 12-step meetings, and other support groups to help with the process of recovery and maintenance.

Counseling Services: A certified recovery counselor can meet with you in person or over the phone on a weekly basis. He or she can guide you through maintaining your recovery by giving you the tools for relapse prevention and for completing self-help assignments. The counselor can also assist you with finding employment, make educational recommendations, help you find volunteer opportunities, address your financial issues, and help you work through stressful and challenging situations that may arise after leaving a treatment program.

CIR provides individual, group and family counseling in both IP and OP settings.  We have a wide range of topic driven sessions, educational topics, as well as process groups.  Our approach involves a combination of Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Existential and 12 Step orientations, along with thought redirection.  Our experience has shown that these approaches and principals work well in counseling for substance abuse and/or psychiatric illnesses diagnosed as primary.

We are knowledgeable and comfortable working with clients that are dually-diagnosed/ presenting with co-occurring disorders; including mood, eating, anxiety, depressive, trauma, anger, personality and bipolar disorders. Our understanding that medication compliance is an issue for some of these groups also factors in to our counseling approach.

At CIR, our counselors believe that emotional management and tolerance is vital to recovery from addictions and psychological disorders.  The main goal being to assist treatment teams in helping to achieve that for our mutual clients.
